British designer Stella McCartney has announced that she is to set up a scholarship at the internationally renowned Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design.
The announcement was made at the College’s graduation ceremony where she received an Honorary Fellowship. The Scholarship will be open to home, EU and international MA Fashion students on the basis of academic excellence and financial need.
In addition, the scholarship includes a one-year paid placement working at the world-famous Stella McCartney fashion house. Receivers of the scholarship will commit to not using fur, leather or products that harm animals in their work.
Central Saint Martins (CSM) is part of the University of the Arts London, and has a reputation for excellence in the creative arts field. In addition to Stella McCartney, notable alumi include fashion designer Matthew Williamson, sculptor Antony Gormley, and Britpop singer Jarvis Cocker.
